Joel
"Mr. Hook" Hoekstra is an Architectural Illustrator who currently
resides in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. He graduated from Minnesota State
University Moorhead in 1995 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (Cum
Laude). His major was Pictorial Illustration which emphasized a
“problem solving” approach to various illustration
tasks.
Before switching almost entirely to digital media, Mr. Hook was trained
in many different traditional painting and drawing techniques (such as
oil paints, water colors, etc). During his college years he
preferred to work mostly with acrylic paints and colored pencils. Most
of his current artwork strives to mimic traditional acrylic painting
styles with image-manipulation software (such as Photoshop) and 3D
modeling programs (such as SketchUp).
Since moving to Omaha, Mr. Hook has also tried his hand at
various
freelance projects, mostly fantasy art. The links below will lead you

Talent Showcase" is probably a good place to start. NOTE: Mr. Hook also
posts on various online forums as "Son of Joxer" (fan art) and "None
the Wiser" (games), which is why you might find artwork/fan fiction
