ORIGINAL ZOIDS

The original Zoids toys which were marketed in the US were small wind-up models. They didn't have individual names or titles, they just looked cool.

The original Japanese models did have names, as did their European counterparts:

Dinosaur Type (upper right):
Japanese name = Garius
European name = Tyrannazoid

Bird Type (upper left):
Japanese name = Glidoler
European name = Terrazoid

Elephant Type (middle right):
Japanese name = Elepantus
European name = Protozoid

Spider Type (middle left):
Japanese name = Tarantulon
European name = Spiderzoid

Frog Type (bottom):
Japanese name = Aquadon
European name = Aquazoid

R.S. MAMMOTH ZOID

The Zoids Mammoth Kit was the second large battery-operated model to be released in the U.S. (the first was the "Giant Zrk"). It was sold exclusively through Radio Shack, which is where I bought mine in 1984.

Japanese name = Mammoth
European name = Mammoth the Destroyer

The U.S. version has become somewhat of a collectors' item because of its rare (and very cool) dark grey-blue color scheme.
